After extensive testing with various white levels, peak luminance settings, and other parameters, it was found that the best results are achieved when using a madVR Envy in the signal chain by setting the tone curve in DisplayCal’s Calibration and 3D LUT tabs to Gamma 1.0 (relative). This allows the Envy to handle all tone mapping independently.

If this step is skipped, the result will likely appear too dark due to double tone mapping—one from DisplayCal and one from the Envy. However, I haven’t found any specific documentation explicitly recommending the deactivation of the tone curve for this type of setup. Am I missing something?
