I am relatively new to display calibration, having started at the beginning of the year.

I began using DisplayCal recently as a means of constructing a 3D LUT for an eecolor box in front of an OLED display.  I have read many posts regarding which pattern generator to use, the built-in one or madTPG.

From all of the veterans out there…

    • Is one preferable vs the other?
    • Does one produce better results?

    Thank you in advance…

madTPG does have a few features that Argyll’s built-in generator doesn’t have, like APL background (useful for measuring Plasma displays) and dithering (which can produce the equivalent of higher bit depth output when the display path is limited to 8 bit).
