Next weekend I’ll be able to rent an X-Rite i1 Display Pro for one day. The main reason I want to rent it is to test color uniformity (dE) of my recently bought monitor. According to a Reddit user DisplayCAL can measure color uniformity. However, when I open DisplayCAL it looks like it’s only meant to generate a color profile. YouTube videos on DisplayCAL only show it measuring at the same spot in the middle of the screen. For uniformity testing I’d need to test multiple locations on the panel.
Is this functionality in DisplayCAL somehow hidden? Do I need an extra plug-in of sorts?
Thanks!
In the menu bar Tools > Report > Measure display device uniformity…
You may need to Enable Advanced Options in the options menu for that to show up. I’m not at my computer at home so I can’t check.
I think it’ll give you the option to set the grid size to measure. Then it will guide you though the measurements.
Thanks, I’ll try that once I have the colorimeter this weekend. Currently that option is visible in the menu but it’s grayed out. Guessing that’s because I don’t have the colorimeter connected and set up.
