I have a nano ips monitor, calibrated to ~ 90 nits, contrast ~ 900:1, black level is 0.10. When I make a 3dlut for madvr 2.4 gamma relative with 100% BOO, I get black clipping in the AVS HD 709 – Blu-ray & MP4 Calibration tests. If I set the B00 to 95%, there is no black clipping. So the question is, black clipping but keeping the contrast or 95% BOO and lose some contrast.

Can you measure RAW those RGB patches in MS paint with spotread? If there is no clipping on that configuration it looks like a video player issue.

I decided to go with 2.22 gamma for the 3dlut, with that low contrast(typical for ips), if I use 2.4 gamma, I get darker picture. So about the black clipping I’m using madvr custom levels – black is adjusted to 0.50, and there is no more black clipping.

Are you sure you’re getting black clipping or just a way too slow transition near the black levels? Even 500:1 monitors won’t get black clipping using madVR for gamma calibration. Its dithering algorithm allows for miniscule adjustments.

I’d just go with 2.2 as well.

I made a 256 neutral patches calibration with 2.2 gamma. The main goal was to use it in no_video_srgb, and it turns out I don’t have black clipping anymore. I’m wondering if I can use 256 neutral patches plus the auto optimized patches for both windows and madvr 3dlut calibrations. Will it improve the 2.2 and 2.4 gamma black clipping that I always have with the default auto optimized patches?
