Some users have reported success using a Spyder1, but the device is very old and its filters may have degraded to a point where it is no longer useful.
I did use a 2nd hand colorimeter initially – about the time Apple made software changes so lots of users were selling theirs. It was a nice stable piece of kit. Then I found out that the filters need to be different to work well on an lcd type monitor. This was from reviews on north-light images so I picked one that he reckoned was ok. Some on the market were still not suitable at the time.
I’d say that there is a fair chance that a spider 1 wont really be suitable for lcd monitor but this probably depends on how colour critical you are or need to be.
