    I picked up the new PD2700Q recently – Benq tech support claims it is a true 10 bit panel and not an FRC dithered 8 and I suspect it may be the same internally as the SW2700PT minus the hardware LUT.  I tested it with a simple 1 bit ramp in after effects and it seems to be pretty smooth to my untrained eye.

    For this type of monitor do I really need to use a colorimeter like a i1 cokormunki and also rent an expensive spectro to find the offset?

    I’ll also be calibrating a relatively new plasma (Samsung PN51D8000) and a few Wacom Cintiq’

    Depends on how much you trust a colorimeter without correction (it’s not an offset, but a 3×3 matrix). The i1D3 based devices are somewhat known for their good out-of-the-box accuracy though.
