calibrated/profiled display is still not as good as it was without calibration (e.g. dark gray or shdows drowns in undifferentiated black)
Make sure you use perceptual or relative colorimetric + black point compensation rendering intent in your applications, or as Vincent said, bake black point compensation into the profile (not normally recommended).
