Hi,
I’m having trouble to get my profile right. I’m using a SpyderX with a DELL U2713H monitor.
Setting on my Dell:
The colours are great, only the black levels are to black. I can hardly see difference in the patches show in e.g. https://www.photofriday.com/info/calibrate
When my display is calibrated with te Spyder software it is nice equal steps. With displayCal the black steps to gray are big en not linear steps.
The attaches curves show the readout of the profile of DisplayCal and the Spyder profile.
What do I do wrong?
Thanx for your help

The 2nd profile doesn’t look right, probably measurement error. Make sure to turn off any dynamic processing like True Tone, auto brightness etc. and redo the calibration + profile.
Thanx for the fast reply!
The second is the DisplayCal profile… I already did a lot of things to get it right:
I got always the same curve… 🙁
Uninstall the Spyder software.
Use this profile as basis: https://my.xrite.com/documents/apps/public/helpfiles/EN/XRite_LinearProfile.icc.zip
You cannot use a profile as “basis”. Calibration & profiling always overrides any assigned profiles.
Something is interfering and messing up your measurements, unless the monitor really is that badly behaved. Please attach the profile you created.
Ok, I did read that somewhere in the forum. so that’s is why I use the basis profile..
attached the profile.
Ok, it’s the testchart you’re using. Not sure where you got that from, but it is unsuitable as it is missing near-black patches. Set testchart to default: “Auto” and 34 patches.
Yes! Fixed it. Thanx for the quick support!
It was my first (bad) profile.. dunno how it came as test profile. Sorry!
