Dear Florian,
I’ve just tested the DisplayCAL monitor profiling, what a great tool! Worked like a charm. I was able to profile my display in a very consistent way from the second attempt. (I had to abort the first one as I did not realize it will take a long time)
A question here: is there a possibility to profile a Scanner or a Printer with the DisplayCAL?
I do own an i1 Pro spectro (OEM instrument, has no licenses for i1Profiler) and Kodak IT8 5″x7″ reflective targets.
If not possible to profile Printer or Scanner with DisplayCAL, could you recommend a suitable (simple?) way of Printer and Scanner profiling? I am on budget here, therefore my question. i1 Studio package is not an option, unfortunately.
Many thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Alexei

Bump?
No printer or scanner profiling using DisplayCAL, sorry. I’d recommend looking for a profiling service where you send your printed target(s) and get a profile back.
OK, thanks for the reply!
I am just about to try the ArgyllCMS for both Printer and Scanner profiling
A little fiddly with command line+arguments, at first glance, but well-documented, worth to try.
Many thanks, anyway!
Best regards,
Alexei
Hello everyone,
if DisplayCAL does not allow you to characterize a printer. I am looking for a free solution that could allow me to characterize my printer.
DisplayCal is it planned to evolve in this direction?
I saw that there was ArgyllPRO ColorMeter but which unfortunately does not allow to create neither LUT nor Profile ICC.
What solutions exist?
Thank you
Paul

It uses ArgyllCMS under teh hood as DisplayCAL
Thank you very much Vincent, unfortunately I don’t have a PC.
I only have Mac and linux I should have specified sorry.
I just have to buy a PC or dive headlong into the workings of ARGYLL.
Thank you also for your efficiency
What a pity it looked perfect

You can use a Virtual machine. I’ve used them (win Host, win guest) and works OK. At least for trying application and see if it fits your needs.
People do not profile printers so often and a 1-3min boot on an SSD for a minimal VM should not be an issue. You’ll need to install ArgyllCMS USB driver for Windows VM guest.
