Displaycal and Python version (3.8)

Hi,

Recently, debian has dropped python version 2 (2.7). Instead, version 3.8 (3.8.5) is available.

Unfortunately there is no version of displaycal running with this version on debian. And I failed to build displaycal with the 3.8 toolchain.

Do you have some plan to adapt displaycal to have it running with these versions of python?

Silly beginner question: since I updated to Linux Mint 20, which includes Python 3.8.2, I am unable to install Displaycal. Is it a compatibility issue with this version of Python?

unfortunately gentoo now also dropped python_2.7 and banned displaycal in the same run. Could not avoid to hold it, as it prevented my system to update.

So deeply hoping for an update 🙂

Obviously, your Linux distribution still offers Python 2.7. This may change in short term, maybe with some future upgrade, since various distributions have already replaced it with 3 and Python 2 support was discontinued in April 2020.

I’m going to put DisplayCal for Python 3 on my wish list for Christmas.
