My new laptop’s display suffered from crushed blacks in video playback, so I got hold of a Colormunki Display and DisplayCal, and created a color profile and 3DLUT, the latter of which I’ve associated with MPC-HC via MadVR.  It’s not noticeably improved, though.  I believe the black point hack was enabled during my calibration, and I’ve read that that might be responsible.

I’d appreciate any advice on how to improve my viewing experience.  Thanks!

Note: The uncalibrated gamma was around 1.9 with color temp around 7300.  Reviews for this model put the uncalibrated gamma at around 2.2.   Not sure if that means my panel’s a dud.

Attach the profile please (use the “Create compressed archive…” button next to “Settings”).

The profile shows no signs of black crush. As you also had black crush without 3D LUT, the video playback is possibly setup incorrectly.

Thanks!  I’ll fiddle around with it a bit.  I’m finding the display actively unpleasant to look at (even headache-inducing), but it’s hard to say why.
