Hello
I’m trying to understand how to calibrate my Samsung 4K TV with windows 10 HDR enabled.
When i calibrate SDR i usually set my TV to native 1886 (everything else disabled since in PC mode post processing is disabled by default) and set Displaycal like so:
Color Temperature: 6500
White level 160cdm2
Tone Curve Rec1886
everything else to default.
When i enable Windows 10 HDR my TV sets the colorspace to 2084 and i have no clue what the workflow for Displaycal is to calibrate my TV properly.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Short answer: HDR, you can’t
There is a built in LUT3D/ gamut mapping / call it X mapping HDR content input to actual TV capabilities inside TV. You cannot baypass or disable it, or at least there is no TV that I know that does that (= HDR in ON, LUT3D OFF, HDR backlight ON & FALD ON if its a LED TV) .
Use HCFR to tweak PQ curve using OSD controls… and there is little more you can do. Also check that tweaking PQ curve (TRC) does not move off colors
